Located in the lively town of Kaohsiung off of the Southwest coast of Taiwan is this contemporary home that opens up to nature, sun, sea air, and water. It boasts ceiling high glass windows and a multitude of open terraces that are finished with wood floors and glazed balustrades. Being the heart of the home, the kitchen opens out to the terrace, connecting the interior and exterior spaces. The anthracite colored oak fronts are enhanced through a fine metal surround, with metal colored handle-less grip-rails giving the tall unit front a vertical structure. Stainless steel counter-tops reflect the warm light of the walnut clad ceiling. The pullouts and drawers are furnished with state of the art SensoMatic opening systems. A slight tap is all that’s needed to open the drawers of this streamline design. Matte materials are used for the walls and floors, highlighting the design of the cabinetry. The large surface of the stainless steel counter top at the island adds a lively contrast to the other warm materials seen in the space. The rear counter top offers a choice of drinks and is used as a bar, blending the kitchen happily into the social life.
